BREAKING NEWS: Neighbours rush to assist as house burns in South Hills
A neighbour rushed into the burning house to turn off the main switch and salvage as much furniture as possible.

Lebo is the neighbour and was one of the first people on the scene of his burning neighbours house on Estantia Avenue in South Hills.

“I was at home watching TV when my Mom called me and said our neighbour’s house was on fire. As I came out I saw that there was smoke emitting from the windows. I jumped over the wall and broke the door to see whether there was someone in the house,” he said.

There was no one in the house and he immediately turned-off the main electrical supply switch. Bystanders came to assist and removed some of the furniture from the burning house.
According to Lebo, they connected a hose pipe after calling the fire brigade to assist and at this point the fire had intensified. The people in the house were afraid that the ceiling might cave.

The two fire engines came to assist and the fire was contained. Moffatview CPF and South Side Angels were on scene to assist.
