The 5km fun walk registration forms will be available at Eureka House, CJ Cronje, Rotunda Park and Region F clinics, and also on the day of the walk.

THE City of Johannesburg Health Department in Region F will conduct a 5km fun walk on Friday, April 7 at JC Lucas Park, Rosettenville from 8am to 2pm, to promote healthy lifestyles.

This will be in partnership with the Provincial Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Imvelo Performing Arts NPO, WRHI, SANCA, and CRUM – as part of the GDS 2040 (Growth and Development Strategy) vision.

The aim is to create a healthy community by 2040, to reduce the burden of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, chronic lung diseases, epilepsy and asthma.

The month of March has been declared TB Month by the World Health Organisation, so April 7 will also be used as a day to empower communities with respect to TB, HIV/Aids and STIs.

The theme of the day is: “We focus on increasing life expectancy”.

The 5km fun walk registration forms will be available at Eureka House, CJ Cronje, Rotunda Park and Region F clinics, and also on the day of the walk. The gates will open at 7am for registration and the walk will start at 9am. For more information contact Lesego Lala, Nonhlanhla Magwaza, Lucia Matsepa on 011 681 8016/8027/8023.
