IMVELO Performing Arts based in Rosettenville is pleading with members of the community to help the organisation continue to strive in its mission to promote arts and education through homework and tutorial classes.
The group does more than teach dance and various arts, as it places great emphasis on academic subjects and has volunteer teachers and tutors assisting learners with their homework, while Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners are assisted with their Mathematics, Science and English.
This non-profit organisation was established in 2016 to create a platform to motivate young people to lead a positive lifestyle and grow up into responsible, productive adults.
There are currently 80 children who make use of the services of the group and depend on willing parents to transport them when they need to perform at various venues.
“This space which we are using does not belong to us so we share it with the community and at times there are community meetings and that results in Maths, Science and English classes and art practices being delayed or postponed, as the venue is used by other people. We would love to have our own space and transport to make things smoother for the children. We are appealing to members of the community to assist us and not just with a building or transport but also with anything they think we might need. There are so many things we could find useful and there are so many responsibilities that may be assumed by any person willing to volunteer,” said Hlalanathi Ntuli.
