Goodbye and thank you, people of the South

Working for you and with you has been an inspiration.

AFTER three years as a community journalist in the South of Johannesburg, I must say goodbye to the loyal readers of the Southern COURIER.

I am transferring to the Caxton Kempton Park office to be closer to my daughter, from May 1, a few days before she turns a year old.

In my time at the COURIER, I believe I was able to change lives and influence service delivery in our area, through my reporting in the newspaper. I tried to be a journalist of integrity and believe I have always reported the truth fairly.

DUTY CALLS: I will miss working with the people of the South, and especially the elderly who trusted me to assist in their plights.

A host of lessons learned from the people of the South will go with me, and for that I am grateful.

I am also proud of the number of elderly people I was able to help better their living conditions by intervening as a journalist for the COURIER, doing the type of work which is part of this paper’s culture – to help people.

I want to take this opportunity to thank our readers for their support, through allowing me to tell their stories and, in so doing, truly grow as a journalist.

Thank you, all residents of the South.

Working for you and with you has been an inspiration.
