Here’s hoping the potholes don’t return
The potholes were so big, oil drums have been placed over the holes to make drivers aware of the danger.
MASSIVE potholes on Swartkoppies Road were posing a threat to motorists as they drove towards Rietvlei Zoo Farm, after the Kliprivier Road intersection, over the weekend of May 12 to 14.
The potholes were so big that oil drums were placed over them to alert drivers to the danger.
What was even more problematic was that this stretch of road has no street lights, creating an even greater accident risk for drivers travelling along here at night.
According to “Benny” on the I Love JhbSouth WhatsApp group, five drivers experienced punctured tyres because of the potholes on Friday evening.
Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler said, “A complaint has already been sent to Provincial Roads to escalate the danger. Unfortunately until the road has dried completely, the potholes won’t be able to be filled.”
On Monday, late in the afternoon, a work team came out to fill in the potholes.
