Pageant organisers dream of empowering women

Women are given the opportunity to express themselves and they are taught that true beauty comes from within.

APART from the glitz and glamour, UniWorld Pageants offer women a once-in-a-lifetime experience, on an international level, to interact with diverse cultures on an informal and/or corporate level.

The UniWorld Pageants were created by Durbanite Anusha Bisaal (47) with the purpose of creating a diverse platform to highlight the virtues and to celebrate the femininity of women across the world. These pageants enable women to recognise their worth and lets them share experiences and build values together.

The pageants (Miss UniWorld and Mrs UniWorld) strive not only to promote the well-being, self-confidence and empowerment of women, but also create national and international ambassadors for the pageants. Women are given the opportunity to express themselves and they are taught that true beauty comes from within. Furthermore, women are also encouraged to take pride in their appearance – if one looks good, one also feels good and one radiates confidence.

The pageants also focus on educating young girls about self-respect. They create awareness of women’s rights and encourage them to raise their hands against abuse.

Applicants for the Miss UniWorld Pageant must be 18 to 28 years old, born female, unmarried without children, without criminal records, in good health and of sound moral character. They must also possess a valid passport and/or identification document. The same applies for the Mrs UniWorld Pageant, except that applicants must be 25 to 46 years old, married or have been married before, and may be a mother.
