Rapist hunted for raping high school student

The man ambushed the 17-year-old and forced her to go to a park where he raped her at gunpoint

THE hunt for a rapist who targeted a 17-year-old learner from a Forest Hill high school continues.

An armed and hooded man ambushed the 17-year-old and forced her to go to a park where he raped her around 6.15am on May 23.

Booysens police confirmed no arrests had been made.

Spokesperson Captain Lorraine van Emmerik said they were following up every lead and would not disclose any further details as that may influence investigations.

She said the matter was handed over to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit, who were assisting the girl through the trauma.

Van Emmerik said the rape happened in the same street as the school. She said the hooded man approached the girl with his hand in his pocket before he forced her at gunpoint to the park.

The victim went into the school after the horrific ordeal and reported the matter to school staff members, who in turn contacted the police.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with any information is urged to contact the police on 011 433 5282.
