Help the centre to realise its goal
Their goal is to create a theatre group, gardening and gaining computer skills among other activities.
HEART of Mary Day Centre in Regents Park hosted a fund-raising dinner at the Núcleo De Arte E Cultura Hall recently.
They get together every Thursday to enjoy activities such as gymnastics, handiwork, meditation, games and choir rehearsals. Community artist, Dario Bettencourt, always performs for them once a month for free as part of his contribution to the community.
The event was held to generate funds. Their goal is to create a theatre group, promote gardening and gain computer skills among other activities.
Clr Faeeza Chame said most of the members of the Heart of Mary Day Centre are pensioners and funds are really needed. This organisation was established in 2015 with only 23 members but today they have a total of 72 members.
“The Portuguese Cultural Dancers danced the night away as part of their contribution to this event. Your contributions are welcome. Please contact their chairperson, Mirita Pereira on 083 276 0262,” she said.
