WITH road rage rife in our communities, and more and more people starting to ignore the rules of the road, the COURIER took to the streets to find out if residents feel that road offenders are punished enough.
PASCA kHUMALO: “No. I think there is not enough punishment for someone caught speeding. He doesn’t even serve time for his actions. We do need strict punishment for road offenders.”XOLISWA KALI: “There is not enough punishment. People who break the law simply get a slap on the wrist and people who obey the rules of the road always suffer.”PALESA MOGITLI: “Motorists do not take the rules of the road seriously. People don’t even take traffic fines seriously. They literally pay traffic fines in situations where they are forced to.”RACHELLE DACOSTA: “No. We need stricter means of punishment for road offenders. A while ago my friend was involved in an accident where a taxi driver was careless.”
