Cyclists do it for a cause
Non-profit organisation Bambanani Southdale depends on people’s generosity and would appreciate any help from the community.
THE legs were pumping and the wheels turning on December 16 as businesses came together to help Bambanani Southdale, in partnership with Deeds of Love Ministries, to raise R22 000 at their 2017 Durban Annual Charity Circle Ride.
This was their third running of the tour. It was four days of honest hard riding covering 730km from Johannesburg to Durban.
Bambanani operates two outdoor soup kitchens on weekly basis, one in Lindeque Drive, Bellavista and the other in Hay Street, Turffontein. Other organisations that they support on a smaller scale are: Reuven Retirement Village, Annie Burger Retirement Village, St Mary’s Children’s Home and Remar Christian Church.

They also engage in youth work, organising activities like camps, picnics and hikes during the school holidays, as well as weekly meetings to educate the youth about relationships, finances and substance abuse.
Chairman Job Khumalo said that as a small, multi-cultural and non-profit organisation with limited funds, they depend on people’s generosity and would appreciate any help from the community.
“During these hard and difficult times, we want to help our society and make the world a better place for all,” he said. “We also appreciate this kind gesture from businesses. Our offices are at 137 Nelson Road, West Turffontein, and we can be contacted on 011 680 7294 or 084 472 4007.”
Sponsors who made the 2017 Durban Annual Charity Circle Ride possible are: Safcrete Construction, Ocean Echo Properties, Warranty Solutions, R&G Concrete Plumbing, Matrix, Rand Water, Rotovane Compressors, Haval, Innovation Group, Ipop Vehicles Spares, Suzuki, Mazda, Westbank, Panda Sportwear and Mecatech Engineering.
