CITY Power Risk Control Department in partnership with the South African Police Services (SAPS) raided a scrapyard in the South of Johannesburg at about 8pm on January 9 and discovered stolen cables. The cables were positively identified as belonging to City Power.
The stolen cables, estimated at the value of R105 000, have since been returned to City Power and will be used as evidence in a case of theft – which has been opened at the Booysens Police Station.
An individual who was identified as the owner of the scrapyard fled the scene while the police were still searching the premises.
City Power appeals to customers to report all incidents of cable theft to the Risk Control number 011 490 7911 or 011 490 7504 or at their nearest police station.
City Power remains committed to doing everything in its power to ensure that customers enjoy a reliable electricity supply. With the support it gets from the customers, this objective can be achieved.
