Free skills training opportunity at Believers Care Society

All services take place at the community development centre in Turffontein.

YOUTH in the south who are unskilled and unemployed can now apply for a skills development training opportunity at the Believers Care Society Youth Development Centre in Turffontein.

The youth development project aims to equip unemployed and unskilled youth with employable skills and provide the basic life-skills, information and assistance that enable employment.

Training courses currently available include end-user computing, project management level four, contact centre support and office skills. The duration of these courses is three months respectively. Classes begin on February 12.

The courses are funded through the Department of Social Development. They are accredited by respective SETAs and a certificate of competence is issued at the successful completion of the course.

All services take place at the community development centre in Turffontein.

Youth with a passion for these courses are encouraged to apply now. To qualify one must be between 17 and 35 years, a resident of south Joburg, matric or equivalent. Grade 10’s are taken on other skills programmes. Only unemployed and unskilled youth are accepted and must be willing to study and to complete the training. Requirements include a copy of ID, proof of residence, previous qualification and a short CV. Classes are from Monday to Friday and it is five hours per day.

Other opportunities now available include assistance with development of business plans, guidance to registration of companies, job placement assistance, free internet browsing for three hours per day, placements into learnership openings and work readiness preparation.

Those above the youth age limit of 35 years should inquire concerning the Out-Boundary Project where people above 35 years are enrolled in diverse office and IT courses, accredited by ICB and Comptia. Note that Out-Boundary Projects are not funded. Participants will be enrolled and hosted but they will have to pay for their own exams.
