Addressing male anger issues

“Mens silence in any abuse is making other men think that it’s alright and that must stop.”

Several organisations and community members want to picket outside the Johannesburg High court on Friday February 16 for the appearance of a man linked to the murder of a five-year-old.

Caleb Ouman died on August 3, 2017, after allegedly being assaulted by his father Seisax Boesak (35).

A handful of organisations plan to be at the court demanding the fair prosecution of Boesak.

South African Male Survivors Of Sexual Abuse (Samsosa) founder Rees Mann said although the accused was making his first appearance, advocacy groups were contacted to come out in their numbers.

Mann said there was no excuse for the accused.

He said this was murder and pure manslaughter.

“Men have internalised anger, and have always been emotionally illiterate.”

“We are not saying men don’t care.”

“Men’s silence in any abuse is making other men think that it’s alright and that must stop.”

Mann said the groups would stand up to express their outrage.
