Evicted resident demand anwers
We demand that the people of Johannesburg be the priority of service delivery, and not petty politics.

The ANC Caucus in the City of Johannesburg calls on Mayor Herman Mashaba to comprehensively state to the community of Ward 124 the reasoning behind the evictions which he claims are a result of so-called hijacked buildings.
If these evictions are truly a result of hijacked buildings, why then is Mashaba not following due process, including that of consulting me? A councillor of any ward should at all times be the first point of contact in his or her ward.
These evictions are nothing short of Mashaba abusing the powers vested in him by the people of Johannesburg. Not to mention the complete disregard of the basic human rights of the evicted tenants, who are left wanting with no alternative shelter.
I am now left to deal with angry residents who want answers as to why they were dumped next to Wembley Stadium with no proper integration with the community, let alone consultation.
The people of Ward 124 demand that the mayor provides them with shelter, or alternatively a plan stating his intentions for their living arrangements moving forward.
The need to work together to advance the lives of our people, and not to humiliate them by throwing them out in the streets of Johannesburg, is the only way to ensure a better life for all.
The ANC Joburg Caucus calls on Mashaba to comply with the resolution taken at the November 29, 2017 council meeting stating that there would be no further evictions and demolitions around the City of Johannesburg. We demand that the people of Johannesburg be the priority of service delivery, and not petty politics.
