STAFF members at the Ackermans store in Rosettenville Junction were robbed at gunpoint by 10 armed men on March 14.
According to an eyewitness, the robbers entered the store, held up the staff at gunpoint and made them open the cabinet where all the cellphones were kept.
“They took the money and a bag full of cellphones and ran off. There was no security at the time of the robbery,” explained the eyewitness.
Captain Tsietsi Phora of the Moffat View police confirmed the incident and said a case of armed robbery has been opened at the station.
“After locking the staff and some customers in the storeroom, the men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones. No shots were fired and no one was harmed.
“A manhunt for these men is under way, and the community is urged to come forward with any information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects,” said Phora.
