Conversations with strangers: The trainer with a purpose
He does personal training because he is passionate.
SIFISO Nhlapo (23) lives and breathes fitness training and his fitness journey started because of his heart condition.
Although he hails from the East Rand, he does his fitness training around the South and he has been training since 2014.
He believes fitness keeps the body healthy and must be maintained every day because if one is physically strong and healthy the risks of cardiovascular problems such as heart disease and a stroke will be less.
He wants to take his training profession international because he believes he has a lot to offer the fitness industry. Sifiso knows that for him to realise his dream to reach an international level he will need to be committed, focused and disciplined.

“Associating myself with driven and enthusiastic individuals will help me and, most importantly, obtain consistency. Before I started being a fitness junkie I was so rebellious at a young age. I was a skhothane and we all know how skhothanes behave (boast about the clothes they wear) so I was part of it, living life like there’s no tomorrow.
“After some time, I started feeling pains in my chest and I went for a check-up at the hospital and the doctor asked me what am I doing with my life. Since hearing those words I realised something had to change and I started jogging and the rest is history,” he said.

Nhlapo is currently working at Virgin Active in Alberton. He is a PR graduate, wellness coach, and Herbalife distributor. He is all about changing people’s lives and brings the best out of them. He would like to open his own gym one day. If you want Sifiso Nhlapo to be your personal trainer contact him on 083 727 2693.
