Abandoned baby in Rosettenville finds new home

On June 5, they decided to take the toddler to Look Forward Creativity Centre.

A BABY of about three months old was dumped next to the ditch in Violet Street, Rosettenville, on May 28.

Two Good Samaritans, Bijoux Kapongo and Cynthia Cossa who saw this, are pleading with the mother to come forward and claim the toddler. The baby is now in the care of the Look Forward Creativity Centre in South Hills.

“It was about 5.30pm when we saw one of the prostitutes dump the baby and just walk off. She said she was tired of the baby and she wanted to go back to ‘work’. We tried to call her and she just went. Seeing that the child was abandoned, we took her and kept her safe by giving her food and clothes,” explained Bijoux.

On June 5, they decided to take the toddler to the Look Forward Creativity Centre where they take care of abandoned babies. “We took her to the centre. There they advised us to first go to the police station to report the matter because they did not want the mother to come back and say we had stolen the baby and then we went to the clinic for her six-week injection,” said Cynthia.

Look Forward Creativity Centre will keep the child until all the necessary documentation that needs to be filled in and signed has been completed. They have named the child Baby Precious.

If community members want to help with food and clothes, they can contact the Look Forward Creativity Centre on 011 613 3867, 073 454 1697 or info@ Look Forward Creativity Centre.org.za
