THE Animal Anti-Cruelty League Johannesburg awarded Verney College with a floating trophy for demonstrating the highest level of commitment to the AACL in Rosettenville on Friday, June 1.
This award is presented annually in recognition of one Gauteng high school and Verney College is the proud recipient showing their support through fund-raising events.
The College has, for three consecutive years, raised substantial funds for AACL Johannesburg by means of their enthusiastic support of the small change tin fund-raising initiative and school poster challenge participation. Many of the students from the College also give of their time as volunteers to assist at the League’s kennels over weekends and during the school holidays.

AACL’s education officer Johann Steenkamp said: “Congratulations to Verney College and with a special thank you to teacher Cindy Allen, who is the one driving force behind the collection efforts in the school. We appreciate her kind and selfless support over the years.”
