BOOYSENS SAPS arrested a suspect that committed a house robbery on July 3, 2013, in Ormonde and he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on June 14.
It is believed that during the robbery the suspect and his accomplice went to a house in Ormonde and knocked on the door. When a woman opened the door they both threatened her at gunpoint. They demanded to be given cash, a television and other household appliances.
The woman and her husband were both tied-up with ropes but the couple was unharmed.
In another case, two suspects were sentenced to 10 years in prison on May 31 for being unfit to possess a firearm.
They entered the victim’s residence and held her at gunpoint while she was walking in her garden. The suspects forced her to go inside the house. She retaliated and was able to take the firearm away from the suspect but unfortunately, the other suspect had a knife and stabbed her.
The suspects were able to hold her captive and went on to steal household appliances.
When the victim realised that the suspects have vacated her house she was able to go out and seek help from the neighbours and they informed the police.
