Dumpsite turned into mini park corner

Residents makes a corner clean

SOME residents of corner Eloff and De Villiers Street took it upon themselves to clean up a dump site area and barricade it with painted tyres in Turffontein.

Residents used to dump used paper bags, broken glasses, boxes and worn clothes here and those not dumping said they were fed up with the smell coming from the dump site. The smell caused health hazards and children’s lives were at risk, residents told COURIER.

Residents say three is still a lot of work that needs to be done in making the place look stunning and attractive for everyone.

“To see residents taking it upon themselves to clean up what has been a concern for a long period of time is uplifting and pleasing. I hope neighbouring residents take note of what we have done here and do it in their streets also,” said Mbali Khumalo.
