Bellavista Clinic reaches out to local residents

The aim of the open day was to allow patients to have a chance to ask nurses, matrons and outreach staff about health issues

BELLAVISTA Clinic’s nurses and matrons delivered a keynote message to patients regarding their health as they hosted an open day on September 26.

The aim of the open day was to allow patients to have a chance to ask nurses, matrons and outreach staff about health issues. The clinic also needed to inform patients about the new programmes that have been initiated by the clinic. These new programmes are, adherence club and health system, which are cordially managed by the nurses.

Local residents came in numbers to support the open day and to know more about their health status.

Adherence Club was initiated to support patients who are diabetics, suffer from ulcers and are HIV positive and who have been taking their treatments for more than a year.

The health system is for security reasons as patients’ files were easily lost but now patients’ details will be captured on the computer system. Lerato Mamosadi, who runs health service programmes, told patients that in order for their information to be captured on the system they need to bring their ID/and or passports when they come to the clinic.

“Patients’ files get lost. This new programme will help patients’ information stay confidential. But, we request patients to bear in mind that sometimes the system will run slowly due to technical reasons so people should not complain. Once one is registered in the system he or she can be picked up in other local clinics’ system,” said Lerato.

LISTENING: Patients were all ears as they were addressed by nurses at Bellavista Clinic.

Patients received insightful information that they have needed, Bongani Komsana told COURIER.

“I am excited to be here today. I wish open days like these ones can be done every month. I can’t hide my excitement,” said Komsana.
