School learners taught how to become responsible at a young age

The organisation was established by Simphiwe Dladla (24), with the help of Bonginkosi Sibisi in 2014, after seeing the lack of role models to the young generation in southern communities.

PURPOSE and Growth (PG), based in Haddon, is a non-government organisation looking to improve school learners in academics by assisting them with assignments, tasks, homework and social skills.

The organisation was established by Simphiwe Dladla (24), with the help of Bonginkosi Sibisi in 2014, after seeing the lack of role models to the young generation in southern communities.

Simphiwe holds a diploma in commerce in marketing management while Bonginkosi has a certificate in travel and tourism.

They aim to improve the standard of other organisations by assisting them with the administration.

Glen Youth Development (GYD) is one of the organisations that have acquired services of PG in the administration department. PG has been helping GYD in hosting fund-raising events which include the hosting of football, netball, tennis and chess tournaments. From the money generated with these tournaments, PG offers a strategic plan to save the money and bring in more funds.

Just recently PG has launched a programme called Boy to Man and Girl to Woman implemented to monitor primary school learners in teaching them how to become responsible from a young age.

The organisation also hosts career expo’s and sports events to keep young people occupied.

PG has an after-school programme during the week where varsity students and school learners are assisted with school work. Students are assisted to apply for learnerships and bursaries.

Simphiwe told COURIER young people should be encouraged to further their education to better the society.

“I want to see this organisation helping people throughout South Africa. In our communities we have many young people who have thrown in the towel. So I believe my organisation will revive fallen young stars,” explained Simphiwe.

For more information about PG or how you could assist, contact Simphiwe Dladla on 079 228 4503 or Bonginkosi Sibisi 074 583 7684.
