Course on palliative care
This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to provide basic palliative care.

STEPPING Stone Hospice & Care Services is offering a course on Introduction to Palliative Care in July 2019 and invites you to register.
This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to provide basic palliative care. It responds to the World Health Assembly Resolution 67.19 that recommends that all health professionals undertake basic training in palliative care.
It is a 40-hour course running over five days and on the successful completion of the course, a certificate of completion will be issued.
Topics to be covered over the five days include:
• Principles of palliative care and palliative care and ethics and end of life decision making.
• Communication skills and the team and family.
• Pain assessment and management and other symptom management.
• Culture, spirituality, sexuality, care of the caregiver.
• Loss, grief and bereavement, care of the caregiver.
The cost to attend the course is R3 500 per person and the dates are July 9, 10, 16, 17 and 23 daily from 8.30am to 3.30pm.
The course will be hosted at Stepping Stone Hospice & Care Services, 15 Heidelberg Road, corner Ascot Road, Newmarket Park
