THIRTY-FIVE students from 28 early childhood development (ECD) centres graduated after completing a six months training programme on project management- SAQA ID-50080 NQF4 course.
The sky is never the limit, but the visionary point to starting something great.
So was the atmosphere at the graduation ceremony of the ECD Class of 2019 at the Believers Care Society (BCS) in Turffontein on November 2.
The training project was sponsored by the US government through the Presidential Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR).

The objective of the course is to equip ECD centres (crèches) with learning and applying the principles of project management in their companies in order to improve the quality of services to their communities and children in their care, especially the orphans, vulnerable children and the youth.
The centre manager at BCS, Alexander Iheme, said BCS will continue to support the crèches through mentorship programmes to ensure that their knowledge is translated into visible action and results.

“The emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become,” Iheme said.
“That is why we understand that the need to invest in very young children is so important, so as as to maximise their future well-being. This is the role that the ECD sector plays in their respective communities.
“Nelson Mandela once said education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
“We would like to congratulate all the graduates for their educational achievement. Thank you to Ward 55 councillor Rashieda Landis, the Services-SETA and Mihlali Mlonyeni from PEPFAR for attending the event,” he said.

Mlonyeni said, “We are here to celebrate with the ECD centres’ graduates. They have been supported by upskilling and providing them with basic capacity building in sustaining their programmes in partnership with BCS.
“It is important to understand the role that ECD centres play in the prevention of HIV and other treatments and that is why we are here to support them.”
