Nasrene lands in Sweden

The sky is the limit for Nasrene and it doesn’t look like she will stop reaching new heights anytime soon.

Nasrene, a pop musician from the South of Johannesburg, is making big waves in the music scene after the release of her latest single Little Things.

This young star also moved to Sweden where she will be studying for her master’s in public health at Gothenburg University for two years.

The CHRONICLE caught up with her to find out how her time in Sweden has been and what she has been up to.

Nasrene had to adapt to the cold weather as well as the fact that English isn’t a language everyone in the country speaks.

Sweden is also a country that is closely associated with pop music with famous singers and groups like ABBA, Zara Larsson and Ace of Base.

“It’s a privilege to be in Sweden. The country has a long history when it comes to pop music. This also gives me an opportunity to work with very talented musicians. I still want to visit the ABBA museum based in Stockholm,” said Nasrene.

Nasrene has in her short time in Sweden released a new single called Little Things with BMG writer and producer David Westmeijer writing the song for her.

The latest single was well-received on music streaming sites like Spotify and Apple Music with the song being added to many playlists on the sites.

She said she likes to hear that people are touched by her songs.

Her favourite thing to do when she isn’t going to classes or writing music is to go for a walk in nature.

“I love going for walks in nature. There are frozen lakes I walk next to, and this helps me to get inspiration for my music. Here, you don’t need to spend lots of money to spend time in nature,” said Nasrene.

Nasrene said she misses her family and friends but is focusing on what she is in Sweden to do.

An album isn’t yet on the books for the young artist but she is writing a few singles.

Apart from the singing, Nasrene is also helping with producing singles for other young artists.

She recently produced and co-wrote Joburg artist Sloani’s first studio single called Keep in Touch.

The sky is the limit for Nasrene and it doesn’t look like she will stop reaching new heights anytime soon.
