Prominent Alberton entrepreneurs explore new venture
Well-known builder and beauty salon owner from Alberton have traded urban city life for peace and serenity.
Prominent Alberton couple, Donsie and Candice Volschenk are sad to bid farewell to old and beloved clients and friends in the community.
Donsie, an ex-professional golfer and now owner and project manager of Building Concepts and his wife Candice, owner of Corner Clinic and Nail Bar for the past 14 years, have called it a day after growing up and living in Alberton for over four decades.
The duo both matriculated at High School Marais Viljoen in 1992 and 2000 respectively under principal Mr Le Roux. They have one daughter Milan who is in Grade Three at Randhart Primary School.
“After the sad and sudden death of my mother, the late Roleen Hughes, the family decided to pack up and live their all-time dreams at the coast. We have taken a leap of faith and with favour and blessings, bought the Whalesong Guest House, a four-star bed and breakfast in the spectacular quaint little town of St Lucia on the Elephant Coast of KwaZulu-Natal,” said Candice.
She said St Lucia-iSimangaliso Wetland Park was listed as an Unesco World Heritage site in December 1999.
It is said to be the most ecologically and historically diverse park in southern Africa.
“St Lucia attracts tourists from all over the world as they have over 1 000 hippos that emerge after dark, whale and turtle watching, crocodile tours, game drives, snorkelling and world-class deep sea fishing chartering. St Lucia has some of the most beautiful beaches and is a little over 200km north of Durban,” she explained.
