NSPCA receives R235K donation to replace stolen vehicle

NSPCA recently received R235 000 donation from the Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation to replace stolen vehicle.

One of the female inspectors at NSPCA was hijacked at gunpoint last year and the NSPCA work vehicle she travelled in was stolen.

According to NSPCA spokesperson Keshvi Nair, their insurance was only able to cover a portion of the price to replace the vehicle, which left them in the difficult position of having to pay the outstanding balance.

“While we were very grateful that our inspector made it out of the ordeal physically unharmed, we were placed under a lot of strain to replace the vehicle as it played a vital role in enabling us to reach animals in need across South Africa,” she said.

Good news is that when Anne McAlpine from the Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation was informed about their predicament, it was without hesitation that she agreed to donate R235 000.

The amount was donated toward the outstanding cost of the new vehicle on behalf of the foundation.

“With the kind donation, the NSPCA was able to purchase a replacement vehicle that has now been branded and is already being used to reach, protect and serve animals and communities all across South Africa,” said Nair.

The NSPCA extends its sincere appreciation to The Roy McAlpine Charitable Foundation for making this possible.
