Cupcakes of Hope reaches out to brave cancer warrior
For International Childhood Cancer Day, Cupcakes of Hope showed acts of kindness to its many beneficiaries, one warrior being Donovan Watson who was left grinning from ear to ear.
As the month of love comes to a close, Donovan Watson was thrilled to receive a surprising visit from Cupcakes of Hope on February 15.
For International Childhood Cancer Day, Cupcakes of Hope delivered at least 500 care bags to its warriors in 20 paediatric oncology wards.
One of those warriors was 15-year-old Donovan, a new patient that was diagnosed with osteosarcoma early in the year. He was also presented with a laptop.
Lori-Anne Hill of Cupcakes of Hope said: “The laptop was a prize that one of our cupcake angels won from Hot 102.7 FM and donated it to Cupcakes of Hope for one of our patients.”
The thankful Donovan, who is hospitalised at Netcare Alberton Hospital, said the laptop will come in handy during this time.
“I will be able to keep myself busy while I’m here at the hospital. I previously had a laptop, but it had to be sold because it started to have issues. I’ve wanted one for a very long time now, and if I get time for learning, I will also use it in that way,” he said.
