Man dies following house fire in Alberton

Paramedics said the man suffered third-degree burns to his whole body.

An 83-year-old man has died from his injuries following a house fire in a complex in Saint Aubyn Street, New Redruth, Alberton on the morning of March 8.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 11:45. The fire had by this time mostly been extinguished by neighbours.

The man was found inside the house, in a critical condition, having suffered third-degree burns to his whole body.

He was still talking to the paramedics while they removed him from the house and treated him with advanced life support interventions.

The patient was then transported to a private hospital in Alberton for further emergency treatment where he did, however, succumb to his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown to ER24. The local fire department was also on the scene for further investigations.
