2025 is the ‘Year of the Snake’

Find out what being born in the 'Year of the Snake' means according to the Chinese …

On the Chinese zodiac calendar, 2025 is the Year of the Snake.

According to China Highlights, “the snake is associated with wisdom, charm, elegance, and transformation. People born in the Year of the Snake are believed to be intuitive, strategic, and intelligent.”

The website further explains that, in Chinese five-element theory, each zodiac sign is linked to one of five elements: Fire, Earth, Gold, Water or Wood.

There are also five types of snakes, each with distinct characteristics:

• Wood Snake (born in 1905 and 1965): Orderly, intelligent, with a refined taste and a gift for appreciating notable celebrities.

• Fire Snake (born in 1917 and 1977): Smart, insightful, communicative, active, and fond of the spotlight.

• Earth Snake (born in 1929 and 1989): Calm with strong self-control, but not always steadfast or diligent at work.

• Gold Snake (born in 1941 and 2001): Determined, courageous, confident, and capable—a natural leader.

• Water Snake (born in 1953 and 2013): Clever, creative, lively, and communicative, though often sentimental.

Famous individuals born in the Year of the Snake include Pablo Picasso, Stephen Hawking, John F Kennedy, and JK Rowling.

The “lucky” colours for those born under the Snake sign are black, red, and yellow, while the lucky numbers are 2, 8, and 9, along with any numbers that contain them (such as 28 and 89).
