Suspects arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms, armed robbery

Johannesburg Flying Squad members arrested three suspects for different crimes in the Johannesburg area and recovered three vehicles and three unlicensed firearms and ammunition from November 11 to 14.
Three suspects were arrested for possession of a suspected unlicensed firearm, ammunition, and armed robbery.
Vehicles recovered include a white Nissan Almera, a grey Hyundai and a black Jeep that was hijacked. All vehicles were handed to the Aeroton SAP 13.
Three firearms including a 9mm Browning, 9mm Taurus and 38 Smith and Wesson with numbers filed off were seized and booked at Moffat View SAPS.
The SAPS members are determined to ensure the safety of their communities by eradicating illegal firearms that have found their way into the hands of criminals.
Johannesburg Flying Squad communication officer Raymond Sambo said the investigation continues in all cases. He said working with the community led to these recoveries.
“The SAPS appreciates the public for their contribution. It should also be noted that for any information regarding the vehicles, contact the relevant detective quoting the case number.
“Three suspects appeared at Booysens Magistrate’s Court facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and armed robbery,” he said.
