Mondeor rape case involving school worker delayed over unfiled report

The case against a Dalmondeor Primary maintenance worker was postponed after the investigating officer failed to compile an assessment report, with the victim and her mother still untraceable.

A 31-year-old man, employed as a maintenance worker at Dalmondeor Primary School in Mondeor, was arrested in connection with allegations of rape involving a Grade Two learner at the school.

The incident reportedly occurred on May 21 on the school’s grounds.

The case resumed at the Booysens Magistrate’s Court on August 7, but proceedings were delayed due to the investigating officer (IO) not having assessed the victim to compile an assessment report.

Apparently, neither the Mondeor SAPS nor the Booysens Magistrate’s Court could trace the victim.

State prosecutor Mr Israel said, “The IO still needs to speak to the victim and compile the assessment report. The victim and her mother could not be traced.”

Magistrate Hasina Habib asked defence attorney Mr Chauke if he had anything to add, but he did not, other than that his client denied the charges.

Habib postponed the case to September 4 for the assessment report.
