Motorists are urged to avoid the Comaro Road on-ramp as the Southern Courier awaits SAPS confirmation of a reported shootout near Mondeor.
Ward 56 councillor Michael Crichton has urged motorists to avoid the Comaro Road on-ramp due to a reported crime scene.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that lanes in both directions of the N12, between Kliprivier Drive and Comaro Street in the Gleneagles area, may be closed.
The Southern Courier has received reports of a shootout involving police and private security near Mondeor, in which three suspected cash-in-transit (CIT) robbers were reportedly shot. Unlicensed rifles were also reportedly recovered at the scene.
The Southern Courier has contacted the South African Police Service (SAPS) for confirmation of the shooting and is awaiting an official statement. The reports of suspects being shot and firearms being recovered have not yet been confirmed by SAPS.
Motorists are advised to expect possible delays and use alternative routes where necessary.
