Naturena electricity cable theft continues
Two days before Freedom Day, cable theft occurred at least three times regardless of the newly installed overhead cable running on pylons.
Subsequently, it was stolen in the early hours of Freedom Day, sending Naturena residents frustrated because this happens under the nose of security guards.
One of the concerns a resident cited is that they suspect a security company may be involved in the cable theft.
Selinah Motaung said it is alarming that the cable is no longer stolen along the deserted field but near the security guard house and in residential areas.
Residents from affected areas like Ext 7, 11, 19, 25, 13, 15, 26 and the old Naturena braved the chilly weather to ensure that the cable is installed immediately.
City Power officials couldn’t be reached for comment.
