Pikitup encourages the community to report misconduct by its employees

Resident doesn’t like the behaviour of a Pikitup staff member.

Pikitup condemns an incident allegedly committed by one of its employees in the strongest possible terms.

This after Delon Palm from Mulbarton complained about a Pikitup employee’s conduct.

Palm said on February 1, his partner was taking out the bins in their street, Caister Drive. One of the Pikitup staff who was allegedly drunk, asked her to give him a beer.

When she told him she didn’t have any, he said to her, ‘Can I be your pencil?’

“While this may sound funny, my partner felt unsafe and was hugely offended. This is very serious and is vile and unacceptable behaviour from these guys,” said Palm.

Pikitup spokesperson Muzi Mkhanazi said they do not condone what happened.

“The matter has been reported to the management of the depot responsible for servicing the area for investigation. The alleged conduct is in direct contrast to one of the Pikitup values, which is to be customer-centric, meaning that employees are expected to treat their colleagues, customers and clients with the utmost respect.

“Although the matter is receiving attention internally, Pikitup apologises to the victims of the alleged verbal abuse and assures the victims that the matter is being addressed.

“Pikitup is appealing to residents who might become victims of the alleged or similar conduct to take photographs of the perpetrator or the registration details of the compactor truck used, the date and time of the incident and furnish such details to the company.”This will ensure internal investigations to be expedited and that the alleged culprit is dealt with in accordance with the company’s disciplinary prescripts,” he said.
