Art initiative transforms Johannesburg south with vibrant community exhibitions

The vibrant art celebration aimed to inspire artists and art lovers to engage more deeply with the world of creativity.

In an exciting collaboration aimed at enriching the cultural and artistic landscape of the south of Johannesburg, Janine Jansen van Vuuren and a passionate art agent, Hester Carsten have brought vibrant, thought-provoking art directly to the community.

This initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the art world and the residents of Johannesburg south, offering a platform for talented artists to showcase their work while making art more accessible to all.

The art celebration, hosted at Just Darling at Thaba, inspired creativity and sparked conversations. It is clear that bringing art to the heart of the south is about more than just showcasing creativity.

Guests show appreciation for the transformative role of art in everyday life.

It’s about celebrating the power of art to connect, inspire and uplift communities.Janine shared: “We found that there is a big gap in the southern market and whenever you look for art, you would have to travel to the North, so we are trying to make it more accessible for the Joburg south community.

“We will continue setting-up pop-up exhibitions in and around the south because I always say art speaks to the soul. It washes the dust off the soul,” said Janine.
