Community comes together for Medical Wellness Day in South Hills
The organisers and councillor thank all who attended and the sponsors.
The South Hills Recreation Centre became a lighthouse to many residents in the community last month.
A Medical Wellness Day hosted by Caregivers SA, Meals on Wheels, and Christian Revival Centre Lenasia saw hundreds of people walk through those doors seeking medical attention.
CEO Joseph Periah and MD Jennifer Samson of Care Network International brought in a team of medical practitioners to give treatment and medication to those in need.
In attendance were the SAPS from Moffat View police station and JMPD, who encouraged community awareness and vigilance.
Clicks Pharmacy Steeledale, and nurses from Care Network, provided blood sugar, blood pressure and HIV testing.

Those who required eye tests received spectacles. An ECG specialist came on board to do emergency tests if necessary.
For those who needed confidential support, Khulisa Victim Support, Addicts Voice and Men’s Clinic were on board to help and counsel.
Everyone who attended could speak to a Christian counsellor for spiritual upliftment.
Nobody left the Wellness Day hungry. Jason Naicker at JJ’s Automotive Supplied provided hotdogs for breakfast and Nicky Vakaloudis and her team at SOJO gave a scrumptious lunch.
Festival Supplies gave refreshments and meals for medical staff and the helping hands.
David Sumadraji, one organiser, said, “We are grateful to Mr Prasad and the team at India Cares for making provision of Medical Supplies.

“In an event like this, it is difficult to mention all the support, donations, and sponsorship we received.”
The organisers thanked Christine Crossley from Meals on Wheels and South Hills Recreation Centre for the planning, preparation and support for the event.
Furthermore, we are grateful to Cayleigh, management and team at Expo Guys, for always joining hands for a good cause in supplying and erecting doctors’ cubicles.”
Councillor Faeeza Chame of Ward 57 thanked the stakeholders, sponsors and volunteers who made this community event a success.
“Special thanks to those who travelled from near and far to support us. Most importantly, thank you to the community who benefited from the essential services provided. Your presence made this event meaningful.
“I am humbled and grateful for the small mercies that make a big difference. Acts of kindness and goodwill make our world a better place. Everything came together perfectly, and I am thrilled to have been a part of it,” she said.
