Alberton Lions Club hosts 5km Big Walk for Little Warriors

Join the walk on February 15 at Rietvlei Zoo Farm to raise awareness for childhood cancer and support local initiatives.

The Alberton Lions Club is organising a 5km Big Walk for Little Warriors on February 15 (International Childhood Cancer Day) at Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

The walk starts at 10:00 and entrance fee is R50 per person. The Big Walk for Little Warriors is an initiative of the Lions Multiple District 410 which includes South Africa, Namibia, Eswatini and Lesotho.

Lions clubs throughout this region are embarking on these walks around that time to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer which is one of Lions International’s Pillars of Service.

Lions clubs strive to help the community recognise the early warning signs of cancer in children so that there is a better chance of healing.

The Alberton Lions are partnering with Kids Kicking Cancer, which helps the children deal with the scariness of their situation, as well as Stepping Stone’s paediatric palliative care unit.

By helping these organisations they hope to ease and improve the lives of the little warriors battling the disease, as well as supporting their families.
