Potholes and falling electricity poles pose danger in Mondeor and Mulbarton
Mondeor and Mulbarton continue to be plagued by infrastructure and service delivery issues.

True North and Amandel roads in Mulbarton have had huge potholes for the last two years.
Despite efforts by the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) to cover up these potholes, the roads remain damaged and unsafe for motorists.
Mondeor suffers from a similar issue as roads like Columbine Road are riddled with potholes, and overgrown trees start falling on the electricity infrastructure.
A dangerous situation involving a fallen electricity pole is evident on Columbine Street, outside the Mondeor Pikitup dump site.

This situation has become a concern for residents as the electricity pole protrudes into the road with an exposed cable hanging from it.
A meeting regarding the state of roads in the southern suburbs was supposed to be held on March 11, where the JRA spokesperson Bertha Peters-Scheepers had to outline the way forward as the JRA deployed an evaluation team on February 20 to assess the extent of the repairs needed.

“We will send City Power and JRA officials to the south of Joburg. At the moment, we are experiencing a backlog of road issues because of the weather and maintenance operations taking place in the city.
“We are working to resolve all grievances on time. We request residents to bear with us and stay safe and aware of the dangerous areas until we do the repairs,” Peters-Scheepers told the Comaro Chronicle in a media statement.
