WATCH: #JusticeForCwecwe movement sparks march in South Hills

The need for justice against sex offenders in SA creates mass uprising.

Zone 11 SANCO Youth Desk and Emihle Sijeku, a Grade 12 learner from Forest High School, felt the need to stand up for women’s rights by organising a march on April 3.

The march raised awareness about the case involving Cwecwe, the young girl assaulted at Bergview College in the Eastern Cape.

The march took place from Hill High School, symbolising the need to make schools a safe place for children.

The case has caused the nation to demand justice as gender-based violence has become a pandemic in South Africa.

Students and youth from around the Rosettenville, South Hills and Moffat View areas all mobilised to march to support Cwecwe and her fight for justice.

“We need to create awareness for all women; Cwecwe’s case is so disgusting and sad. I pray she gets justice and that legislation is set in place to punish rapists and deter them from trying to do something like this. We are all with you, baby girl,”’ said Emihle.

“Regardless of your politics, religion, race or anything else, this is a cause we have to fight for. We need to protect and help our women and girls. We need to stop this type of crime. We will all fight for justice for Cwecwe and all women,” said Nyhila.
