Townsview church stands firm against drugs and abuse

The campaign brought residents together as the church called for action and safe spaces.

In an effort to fight drug abuse and gender-based violence, Townsview Seventh-day Adventist Church recently hosted a powerful drug awareness campaign.

The church sent a strong and clear message: ‘No to drugs, no to abuse’. Members of the congregation expressed their deep concern about the future of young people, many of whom are falling into the trap of drug use.

Pathfinder director Leono Williams said: “We are sick and tired of our young brothers and sisters destroying their future with drugs. As a church, we are saying enough is enough. Drugs are not the solution – drugs destroy lives.”

Young people are empowered with knowledge to make healthy choices.

The residents responded positively to the campaign, particularly when they saw young people taking the lead in saying no to drugs.

“If the young are standing up, then we truly have hope for the future,” he added.

Church youth perform a march, urging peers to ‘Say no and choose life’.

The church also emphasised the importance of creating safe spaces within the community. “We must have places to rescue our sisters who are abused. Our community must be a refuge where hope is found.”

Townsview Seventh-day Adventist Church remains committed to offering support and encouragement to anyone in need.

“If you feel like you need someone to talk to, feel free to visit us. You will always find answers and hope here.”
