Blankets and hope at Our Lady Fatima Church in South Hills

Warming hearts with blankets

On June 3, Deacon Walter Middleton, who is a part of Our Lady Fatima and St. Patrick’s Church, distributed blankets and food to the poor and needy in South Hills.

The event was a testament to the power of community and the generosity of those involved. The distribution included beef stew, pap, and yellow rice, lovingly prepared by the church ladies.

Hot meals were handed out to all those who attended the distribution.

In addition to the meal, 40 blankets were distributed to those in need, courtesy of Grassroots Heroes International (GHI). Used clothes and shoes donated by CWL La Rochelle were also made available to the beneficiaries.

The event was a shining example of community spirit, with everyone coming together to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Deacon Middleton expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the ladies for their hard work, saying, “I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the ladies who worked tirelessly to prepare this meal and organise this event. God bless the ladies for their hard work, and may their selflessness be an inspiration to us all. I also want to thank GHI and those who donated clothing,” said Middleton.

The event was well-organised, and the beneficiaries were visibly happy to receive the blankets, which will help keep them warm during the winter months.

The distribution was a success, and the community were grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to those in need.

The event served as a reminder of the importance of community and the impact that can be made when people come together to help those in need.
