Rumaysah Hashim shines for Robertsham Primary School

She is the first girl to make a provincial team for the school in cricket.

Rumaysah Hashim is a Grade Five learner at Robertsham Primary who has a passion for cricket. She comes from a cricket family, and at a young age, she even watched her brothers play cricket.

She has gained valuable knowledge and skills from being her brothers’ number one supporter.

This gave her the interest to join the cricket programme at school.

She participated in mini cricket in grades one and two. In Grade Three, she participated in the cricket team and won the most improved cricket player at the school’s awards ceremony.

Although the majority of the team members were boys, she could hold her own and was the captain of her team for two years, in grades three and four.

This year, in Grade Five, she began taking her cricket more seriously and was selected from her school to participate in the trials.

She was delighted and kept on telling herself, “I want to make it for my school. I want to put Robertsham’s name on the board,” not knowing she would be the first girl to make a provincial team for the school in cricket.

Rumaysah is a determined, well-disciplined, respectful and confident learner.

Robertsham Primary wishes her all the best in her cricket career and hopes she continues to maintain a high standard for the school.
