Tiaras and Tuxedos launch inspires youth in Johannesburg south

After a successful launch, Tiaras and Tuxedos is inviting young people to join its empowering journey.

A new youth development initiative aimed at empowering young people through leadership, education and creative expression was successfully launched on Saturday, April 4, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.

The initiative, known as Tiaras and Tuxedos, is a pageant and development academy focused on community upliftment.

It provides a platform for young males and females aged between two and 27 to build confidence, discover their talents and take part in meaningful community work.

The launch event introduced the academy’s programmes, upcoming pageants and development opportunities. It attracted aspiring models, parents, supporters and community members interested in collaborating with the organisation.

Speaking at the event, organisers highlighted that the academy goes beyond traditional pageantry. “Tiaras and Tuxedos was created with a vision that extends beyond beauty. Our motto, More Than Beauty, reflects our commitment to personal development, education and community engagement,” said one of the organisers.

The initiative is supported by community leaders and pageant representatives, including Carmel Ngoyi, who currently serves as Miss La Rochelle Ambassador and was named Miss Turffontein second princess 2025. She works alongside the administrative team to inspire young people across Johannesburg south to pursue leadership and personal growth.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the team behind the successful launch. “This would not have been possible without our incredible team, Ntombi Jawuma, Carmel Ngoyi, Lablonde Nkebani, Percide and Louange. Their dedication and hard work brought this vision to life,” they said.

Special appreciation was also given to collaborators and participants. “We extend a special thank you to Mr Alvin from African Beauty Projects for his valuable support, as well as to our amazing models, Elvie Ntumba, Raya, Belia Bebel, Aiden, Ben, Grace and Cinderela Dura, for their confidence and presence on the day,” organisers added.

They also thanked those who assisted behind the scenes and the parents and guests who attended. “We are truly grateful to everyone who supported us and made the day so special,” they said.

Registrations for Tiaras and Tuxedos are now officially open. There is no registration fee, and the programme is open to males and females aged two to 27 residing in Johannesburg. Registration will close on May 30.

“We encourage everyone to join us and be part of this empowering journey before spaces fill up,” organisers said.
