Door of Hope Golf Day set to bring community together for a worthy cause
Residents and businesses are invited to take part in a special golf day aimed at raising funds to support vulnerable children.
For more than 25 years, Door of Hope Children’s Mission has been making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
Since it opened its doors in 1999, the organisation has become a place of safety and care for abandoned babies, showing that compassion can change lives.
The mission’s roots are deeply planted in Glenvista, where its first and third homes are still based today. These houses now care for 66 children, providing them with a safe place to live, medical care, and daily support. Each child is given the chance to grow up in a stable and loving environment.
Over the years, the impact of Door of Hope has been remarkable. The mission has helped 1 940 babies since it began. Of these, 300 were safely received through the Baby Saver Box, offering mothers a secure and anonymous way to leave their babies in care. In addition, 381 children have been reunited with their biological families, while 899 have been adopted into permanent, loving homes.
The organisation says the strong support from the Johannesburg South community has been key to its success. Local residents, businesses, churches and clubs have all played a role in helping the mission continue its work.
Golf day to support the cause
To raise funds and continue providing care, Door of Hope will host a Golf Day on May 21 at Glenvista Country Club.
Community members and businesses are invited to take part by booking a four-ball, sponsoring a hole, or donating prizes. All funds raised will go directly towards caring for the children currently living at the mission.
The day will also feature exciting prizes, including two three-day holiday getaways – one to the Drakensberg and another to the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. The event will be hosted by well-known South African personality, Brent Lindeque, also known as ‘The Good Things Guy’.
Organisers say every contribution, big or small, will help ensure that the doors of hope remain open for many years to come.
