“As long as you look for someone else to validate who you are by seeking their approval, you are setting yourself up for disaster. You have to be whole and complete in yourself. No one can give you that. You have to know who you are – what others say is irrelevant.” – Nic Sheff
Success is not a popularity contest. It’s your duty, obligation, and responsibility. It’s a sure sign of self-love and self-respect.
People who assume the position of victim will never be secure – simply because they choose to turn over responsibility to another party. They never choose to know for themselves what they can do. They therefore never take charge over their outcomes going forward, saying “I am a victim, bad things happen to me often and I cannot do anything about it.”
Lower performers will always poke fun, try to distract you and even try to convince you to cease the very actions that had gotten you to where you are.
Lower performers make others seem wrong for doing what is necessary in order to make themselves feel okay about doing nothing.
The highest performers – the winners – respond by studying successful people and duplicating success. They train themselves to reach top performers’ levels. Because the lower performers are not willing to step up and take responsibility to increase their production, they can seek to tear down those who are performing at higher levels. Let that not put you off, it’s the way of the world.
If you love and respect yourself, never take the position that things just happen to you. Rather that they happen because of something you did or did not do. If you are willing to take credit when you win, you have to take credit when you don’t – that’s the winners’ attitude.
