Substations in Glenvista are neglected

Many years ago this area was fortunate enough to have been served by a dynamic councillor, Rodney Janit, who would arrange a meeting with the complainant to get a comprehensive picture of the problem and, then discuss it and agree on the way forward.

I’ve been in contact with Ward 23 DA councillor, Sarah Wissler and DA chairperson, Tyrell Meyers about getting whoever is responsible to clean up a disgustingly neglected substation adjacent to my property in Charmion Avenue, Glenvista.

Nothing has been done about it since I contacted them in March this year, and now it’s June. This isn’t the only neglected substation – many others look just as bad.

Many years ago this area was fortunate enough to have been served by a dynamic councillor, Rodney Janit, who would arrange a meeting with the complainant to get a comprehensive picture of the problem, then discuss it and agree on the way forward. Thereafter he would communicate with the ratepayer, informing him of progress with the relevant department in resolving the problem. I had anticipated greater efficiency from the DA! No action after two months!

Unfortunately I have concluded that all political parties – notwithstanding their much-vaunted electioneering promises – eventually abuse their constituencies, being more preoccupied with photo shoots in suburban publications.

Ward 23 DA councillor Sarah Wissler was contacted for comment, but no response had been received at the time of going to press.
