We are a group of learners who use the Southdale Library almost daily. We enjoy so many benefits from using the library. Many of us come from small, cramped, overcrowded homes. We therefore prefer to do our homework at the library. We enjoy the quietness and also being in a crowd of learners who are serious about their studies.
About two years ago, we were overjoyed when Wi-Fi equipment was installed at the library. We were told it was state-of-the-art equipment and would be available to us free of charge. We were excited as it would make our research work so much easier and quicker.
Sadly, two years later, the Wi-Fi is still not connected, while some learners at our school boast about how they enjoy the free Wi-Fi service rendered at other institutions.
The librarians at the Southdale Library seem to be so despondent. They have enquired so many times about the connection and usage of the Wi-Fi, but all they get is promises.
We would appreciate it if the COURIER could contact the right people in authority and who have the interest of the learners at heart, to find out where the problem lies and to correct it without delay. We are almost certain that the problem lies with incompetent officials who couldn’t care less about the education of young people.
