Ward 57 transport issues tackled

I promise to serve all our people in the ward with respect and dignity and without fear or favour.

To the residents of Ward 57, I would like to thank all of you who participated in the election of the Ward 57 committee members.

I also thank those who voted for me, as I was elected onto the committee and my portfolio is roads and transport. I promise to serve all our people in the ward with respect and dignity and without fear or favour.

Announcements

Transport – All metro bus commuters who reside in Ward 57 and use the bus to get to and from work are hereby asked to please sign a petition for a bus diversion to cater for the new South Hills Extension houses situated at Nephin Street.

According to Metrobus, they will consider such a request if all the residents or commuters sign the petition, to be submitted in March.

Bus Forum – The Metrobus Community Forum will be holding elections in March to elect new people to serve in the forum.

Bus fare increase – Metrobus will be increasing bus fares as from July. I will inform commuters of the new fares once the Metrobus marketing officer, Siphesihle Mbaka, hands me the new fare documents.

Joburg Roads Agency – I notice that some traffic lights in my area do have speed cameras but do not work.

Stormwater drains are filthy and over-flowing with dirt, so my humble appeal to people – please stop throwing rubbish or nappies down these drains.
