Gracie Barra Alberton Academy recently competed at the Abu Dhabi National Pro Jiu-Jitsu Tournament and ranked fifth in South Africa.
The team consisted of 10 students. Results were as follows:
Adults: Michaela van Staden (fourth), Tumaya Thomson (silver), Luke Mynhardt (bronze), and Joshua Breed (ninth).
Children: Connor van der Mescht (silver), Nicolas Sears (silver), Willow Mitchell (gold), Wayden Wolmarans (gold) and Coenie Lamprecht (gold).

“We are honoured to represent our sport and Alberton as a community at thhis tournament. We as an academy are very proud of the students who competed and held our name high,” said coach Shane Carr from the Valhalla MMA & Fitness SA.
“We welcome all new members from young to old to join us. We also have a ladies only class,” he said.
